Just Released
The next release from the Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2011–12 Season recording series is now available. Featuring mezzo-soprano Anne Sophie von Otter in orchestral arrangements of Schubert songs — a performance the New York Times described as having “winning suppleness” — as well as Haydn’s Symphony No. 88, Ravel’s Mother Goose (complete ballet), and Ravel’s La Valse, the release can be downloaded on iTunes, Amazon.com, eMusic.com, and InstantEncore.com, as well as by visiting nyphil.org/recordings. Want a test listen before you buy? You can stream this — and all recordings from this season’s series — on Spotify.
Next up in the series: Thomas Adès’s Polaris and the infamous Mahler 9 (marimba not included), to be released on February 21.
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
